Renting a training room in Barcelona for 20 or 30 people
A training room for 30 people needs about 40 m², a projector legible from the back row, and enough power sockets. Nearly everything else can be improvised; those three cannot.
This guide covers what to check before booking, roughly in the order things tend to go wrong.
How much floor space you actually need
Floor area on its own tells you very little. What matters is how you arrange people:
| Layout | m² per person | In a 40 m² room |
|---|---|---|
| Chairs in rows, theatre style | 1.2–1.5 m² | 26–30 people |
| Tablet chairs for writing | 1.5–1.8 m² | 22–26 people |
| U-shaped tables | 2.5–3 m² | 13–16 people |
| Separate tables for group work | 3–3.5 m² | 11–13 people |
If the trainer will move among the participants, or there are group exercises, add 20% to the area. And check where the door is: in a full room, if getting to the toilet means walking in front of the presenter, the session is interrupted every ten minutes.
The equipment that decides the session
The projector. Ask about resolution and, more importantly, whether there is fixed HDMI cabling. A borrowed adapter that does not fit your laptop ruins the first fifteen minutes — the ones that set the tone for the day.
The whiteboard. A two-metre whiteboard changes what formats you can run. A flip chart is fine for small groups, but from row six it is unreadable.
The sockets. In a full-day session, half the room will want to charge a laptop or a phone. Ask how many outlets there are and where.
Air conditioning. Thirty people in 40 m² heat a room quickly. In Barcelona between June and September, this is not a minor detail.
The breaks are part of the room too
A six-hour training session has two or three breaks. If there is nowhere to stretch your legs and get a coffee, people go out to the street and restarting costs twenty minutes.
Check whether a shared area is included in the price, whether it has a coffee machine and microwave, and whether the toilet is inside the space or a shared one on the landing.
What it costs
Rooms equipped for 20-30 people in Barcelona generally run from €25 to €60 an hour, with the upper end covering prime locations and design-led spaces.
Reference rates change often. Always confirm the current price with each venue before booking.
When comparing, work out the total for the day rather than the hourly rate: a minimum booking, a separately billed projector and VAT can double the gap between two rooms that looked similar.
Our training room
At WorkSpace.Cat, on Avinguda de Mistral 40, the large room is 40 m² with two zones: a presentation area with 30 tablet chairs, and a work area with six chairs and desks.
It includes a 4K projector, HDMI cabling, a 2 m whiteboard, air conditioning and wifi at no extra cost. The shared area, with a sofa, coffee machine and microwave, is available throughout your booking.
| Session | Total excl. VAT | Works out at |
|---|---|---|
| 10 people, 4 h | €68 | €17/h |
| 20 people, 6 h | €112 | €18.67/h |
| 30 people, 8 h | €156 | €19.50/h |
The rate is €12/h for the room plus €2 per person — a one-off charge, not per hour. Prices exclude VAT and the minimum charge per booking is €20.
We are five minutes from Plaça d’Espanya and ten from Sants, with step-free access and an accessible toilet. To book, call or message us: we confirm availability and open up in person.
FAQ
How many square metres do you need for 30 people?
With chairs in rows, allow 1.2 to 1.5 m² per person: a 40 m² room seats 30. If you want U-shaped tables so people can write, the same room drops to 13-16.
What does an hourly training room cost in Barcelona?
Rooms equipped for 20-30 people generally run between €25 and €60 an hour. At WorkSpace.Cat the 40 m² room is €12/h plus €2 per person: a 20-person session over six hours comes to €112 before VAT.
Is the projector charged separately?
At a fair number of venues, yes, and it is the line item that most distorts a price comparison. Always ask before deciding. At WorkSpace.Cat the 4K projector, HDMI cabling and 2 m whiteboard are included in the room rate.
