Small meeting rooms for 2 to 5 people in Barcelona

Large rooms get advertised more, but most meetings booked by the hour involve three or four people. A small room solves one very specific problem: you need a door that closes, for an hour or two, somewhere the other person can easily reach.

What people use them for

• Job interviews. Meeting a candidate in a café is awkward for both sides, and meeting at your own office is not always discreet. A neutral room solves both.
• Client meetings. Particularly if you work from home and would rather not give out your home address, or if you are going to show figures.
• Tutoring and private lessons. A table, a board and quiet.
• Coaching, mentoring and consulting sessions. Where confidentiality is part of the service.
• Important video calls. An interview or a viva you cannot take with background noise and a kitchen behind you.
• Partner meetings. When none of the parties can hold the conversation in their own office.

What to look at in a small room

In a 15 m² room the details matter more than in a large one:

• The table. A round table for four or five works far better than a narrow rectangular one: nobody ends up at the head and the conversation distributes itself.
• The light. If you are taking a video call, look at where the light comes from. A window behind you turns you into a silhouette.
• Sound insulation. Ask what is on the other side of the wall. For an interview or a confidential session this matters more than the projector.
• The minimum booking. This is what most inflates the cost of a short meeting. A venue at €12/h with a two-hour minimum is dearer than one at €15/h with no minimum, if you only need an hour.

What it costs

Rooms for small groups in Barcelona generally sit between €12 and €25 an hour, depending on the area and on whether membership is required.

The rate is €9/h for the room plus €2 per person, a one-off charge. You can book a single hour; the minimum charge per booking is €20, because opening up and preparing the space costs the same however long you stay.

Access to the shared area is included — sofa, coffee machine and microwave — which is useful for waiting between one interview and the next. There is an accessible toilet and step-free access for people with reduced mobility.
